The special series was designed to demonstrate how climate chaos impacts the lives of Americans, at a time when the topic is the most important in relations between Brazil and the United States.
The goal is to present the crisis in the richest country in the world not just as an environmental problem, but as a social and economic emergency, telling the tragedy through the stories of the people.
Since January, we've delved into research and figures on extreme weather events - and their most symbolic consequences - to chart a roadmap from Florida to California by car.
In August, journalists Marina Dias and Lalo de Almeida received support from the Pulitzer Center to carry out the trip, which began on September 21 and lasted for three weeks.
To help contextualize the scenario, we interviewed experts, analyzed data, public and private policies, and organized material to present the climate crisis beyond hurricanes and forest fires.
It is, above all, an imminent existential threat in the country that, for many, still serves as a model for Brazil.
